The sign says Fine Cabinetry & Woodwork.

It hangs over a brick storefront on Carl Vinson Parkway in Warner Robins. Behind the door is a showroom kitchen you can walk through, and behind that, a shop where the doors are finished by hand.

Interior Wood Design was registered in Georgia in August 2004 as Interior Wood Design, L.L.C., and today the shop and showroom sit at 323 Carl Vinson Parkway. A customer called it "Family owned and operated," and added "Close knit staff." Both phrases come from Google reviews.

The showroom is a whole kitchen, not a wall of samples.

Raised-panel knotty alder runs along the walls. There are glass-front uppers, carved corbels under a custom hood surround, and a painted island on turned legs with a granite top and a butcher-block bar overhang. You can open a door, feel the weight of it and look at the finish under real light before you decide anything about your own room. If you are planning cabinets, start with kitchen cabinetry or book a showroom visit.

Behind the showroom is the shop. Doors are finished there, in-house, and dried on rolling racks: one rack in the shop is stacked with freshly finished sapele and mahogany doors, the grain deep and the surface still wet-looking. A door that is finished in the same building you ordered it in is a door you can ask about.
