Four measurements worth bringing

None of it has to be perfect. A rough list in hand lets the first conversation be about your kitchen instead of about what is missing. Looking for ideas first? The services index shows what the shop makes.

  1. 1

    Wall lengths and ceiling height

Runs and tall pieces are drawn from these numbers. Measure each wall end to end, and the ceiling in more than one spot if you can.

  2. 2

    Window, door and plumbing positions

These decide where doors swing, where a sink run ends and where trim has to stop.

  3. 3

    The appliance list

Make and model, or at least the widths, so the openings for the range, refrigerator and hood are planned with the cabinets.

  4. 4

    Photos of the room

A few from each corner show what a tape measure cannot: uneven walls, where the light comes in, what sits next to the cabinets.

Rather write it down?

Leave your name, a number and a line about the room, and the shop will call you back.

Yes. Doors are finished in the shop and dried on the shop's own racks, which is what lets a stain or paint colour stay consistent across every door in a kitchen.

Interior Wood Design, L.L.C. was registered in Georgia in August 2004, and the shop is family owned and operated.

No. Kitchens are the obvious one, but the shop handles millwork generally: islands, built-ins, trim, crown moulding, corbels and range-hood surrounds. One customer review called it the place to go for anything millwork related.
